Occupational Assessment examines the skills, knowledge and abilities required for affected occupational groups. Occupational assessment identifies how and which occupational discrepancies or gaps exist, potentially introduced by the new direction of an agency. It also examines new ways to do work that can eliminate the discrepancies or gaps.
Individual assessment analyzes how well an individual employee is doing a job and determines the individual’s capacity to do new or different work. Individual assessment provides information on which employees need training and what kinds (OPM, (n,d).
The next step is to set up some objectives such as:
• Determine the need for the training
• Who needs it
• Know how to train the different type of employees by age, culture and level of comprehension.
• Know your audience and have a plan.
Now that we have defined what the reasons, objectives and needs for training, we will need to choose the different method that will be using for both our virtual and on site employees. The three methods that I have chosen are classroom, on the job (OJT) and self-space.
As per Lee (2010) Classroom training is classic instructor teaching in form of a group of students in a classroom, most consistent of the methods but the transfer of information back to the job is more difficult.
