Mission Vision and Personal Goals
I have been a nurse in the acute care setting for over 9 years and due to the changes in health care I have decided to pursue my professional goal in the part of a Family nurse practitioner; which will allow me provide advance nursing care. In order to achieve this goal, I have to advance my education, and Walden University has the capacity to provide me with information and skills required to achieving my academic goal of graduating with a degree in Family nurse practitioner.

Walden University vision and mission statement relate to me; because they have all the attributes in making my dream come true. According to the University’s vision, they see a future with a community where skills obtained are valuable to the degree which graduates can apply to societal challenges. (Walden University, 2011, para. 1). It is obvious that the school will provide me with the knowledge and skills necessary to advance my care giving in the area of nursing. This degree will allow me to serve and meet the need of individuals, and families throughout their lifespan. They also stated in their mission that, the school will provide a variety of career professionals with the ability to change themselves as scholar-practitioners. (Walden University, 2011, para. 2). This relate to me; because, a degree in Family nurse practitioner will prepare me for the task of facilitating positive changes in the acute care setting where I will be working to provide patient care.
Applying into Walden University School of Nursing (SON) was a step in pursuing my dream. The SON vision said their program
