Analogies

Analogy questions account for about one quarter of the marks on the verbal section of GRE. Our mini-tests will also be useful to people preparing for the Miller Analogy Test (MAT).

Analogies test your ability to find the relationship between a pair of given words and then identify a pair of words from the answer choices that has the same relationship.

Each analogy question should take approximately 40 seconds. Our mini tests have 15 questions to be completed in 10 minutes.

Study the explanations to the questions you get wrong. You will make more progress if you take the trouble to write down all unfamiliar words and look them up.

Directions

Choose the answer key which contains a pair of words with a relationship most similar to the relationship between the pair of words in capital letters.

Example:

AVIARY : BIRDS

(A) den : lions
(B) coop : chickens
(C) school : fish
(D) desert : camel
(E) garden : weeds
