Some dogs blinked and even whimpered during the painful procedure—indicating that they were not adequately anesthetized—and woke up moaning. Likely in severe pain, some banged their heads on cage walls, causing blood to spurt from their wounds. Some foamed in the mouth, and others had seizures. As I agree with these authors, the use of rhetorical questioning and repetition is an effective rhetorical strategy to call out to the audience to help end and inform more people about animals in testing.

In the article, “Animals in Research,” a piece written by Steve Hoagland and George Wright, presents the statement that there are people who are unaware or unbothered by this issue. I believe that we need to inform the public more on this topic. The fact that these research experiments that are hidden from the public, abuse and cruel treatments are pushed onto animals for human benefit. As it might be a touchy subject to hear about these animals screaming for help, people need to be more aware of this matter. One organization called, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals or also known as PETA, “has exposed some hideous scenes of animal experiments”(Wright & Hoagland).
