“THE ARGUMENT”
This argument that I’m writing about today is about Legalizing Marijuana (weed). There are two sides to every story in this case I’m going to be arguing for the Pros of Legalizing Marijuana in the State which is Maryland. First let’s really think about Marijuana (weed). When you use Marijuana it calms you down and puts your mind at rest. It doesn’t have you feeling Mad and/or doing crazy bad thing to people, For example fighting, crashing your car, ect….. Now what do those things have in common? ALCOHOL is the common ground between those things. You will never see someone at a bar fighting because they were smoking or someone getting pulled over because they were smoking. Now ask yourself how do you support one mind altering substance (alcohol) that makes you violent, is addictive and makes you do stupid things over one that has LESS of a negative effect than alcohol? This being said voters in Colorado, Washington State, and Oregon had the opportunity to make history by voting on initiatives that would legalize the recreational use and sales of marijuana. Now that Colorado and Washington legalize marijuana in November this means in terms of upholding federal laws, that people in other states other than them three maybe will see something change so their state will be able to legalize marijuana. Decriminalizing marijuana possession will not encourage the use of harder drugs. And NO Marijuana is not a gateway drug; A Study in the August edition of THE JOURNAL OF SCHOOL HEALTH proves this statement. Using a nationally representative sample from the University of Michigan’s annual MONITORING THE FUTURE SURVEY, the study blasts holes in drug war orthodoxy wide enough to drive a truck though, definitively proving that marijuana use is not the primary indicator of whether a person will move on to more dangerous substances. It simply calms your body down and relaxes your mind if anything it helps your body. People state that Marijuana is bad for you and no one should be able to have it. Which is a lie Marijuana is not bad for you unless you really have some Health issues that causes you not to be able to smoke in that case it is bad for you. Plus they have Medical Marijuana in the Hospital in some places in the U.S which really does help people with health issues. They should just have Rules and Laws for Smoking Marijuana for example just like they have it in Washington and Colorado you should be 21 years or older to be able to have Marijuana just like they have it with Alcohol, you shouldn’t be able to be in a Public place smoking it but you could be in your House or indoors with it.
