“And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave.” (New Living Translation, 1 Kings 19: 12-13). In 1 Kings 19, Elijah is hiding from Jezebel, who planned to kill him because he caused her prophets to die and was enraged about the death of them because they had told her everything she wanted to hear, prophesying her future power and glory. During this period, Elijah grew discouraged and depressed because he felt that he was the only person left who stayed true to God. However, God had other plans than to end Elijah’s life, like he wanted, and proved to Elijah that while he was up hiding, that the others who he left were still remaining faithful during the nation’s wickedness and He also still had work for Elijah to do, which He made known as well. During times of fatigue, pain, depression and discouragement, a believer may feel that God has betrayed them, however, this is the complete opposite of what God wants us to feel. …show more content…
He felt afraid, depressed and abandoned, ultimately hoping that God would end his life so that these feelings would no longer be able to impact him and take over his life. lijah witnessed a windstorm, an earthquake, and a fire. But the Lord was not in any of those powerful things. Instead, God displayed his presence in a gentle whisper. A whisper, something so intimate and gentle. Even today, God often speaks through the gentle and obvious rather than the spectacular and unusual. God has work for us to do even when we experience fear and failure. Although we might wish to do amazing miracles for God, we should instead focus on developing a relationship with Him. The real miracle of Elijah’s life was his very personal relationship with God. That that miracle is available for us also, we just have to seek
