What character traits would a person need to survive the cupboards? 100 Cupboards is about a boy named Henry, who has adventures while exploring cupboards. Henry went to his aunt’s and uncle’s house because his parents were kidnapped. While he is there, he finds that behind a wall in the house there are 98 cupboards. These cupboards each lead to a different place or time. While Henry is at his aunt’s and uncle's house he shows he is curious, courageous, and perceptive.

The definition of perceptive is “having or showing sensitive insight” (Google). Henry woke up in the middle of the night and realized someone was in the bathroom (Wilson 15). In the morning, he woke up and realized he had forgotten something (Wilson 17). Henry looked at his surroundings and thought about how he would have reacted earlier in his life (Wilson 19). That is an example that shows that he perceives a lot of things because it is hard to look at how you think and look at how you would have thought in the past. Henry said he did not want a glove when his uncle asked him because he realized that if he said he did want one he would have to play baseball (Wilson 25). Henry then realizes he does not want to play baseball because he has never done it before (Wilson 80). Later that night, Henry thought about how he had never eaten that much meatloaf before (Wilson 30). The day when uncle Frank wanted to get the door open, Henry watched his uncle pick up the ax and swing it. Henry realized that Frank had once loved using the ax, but he had not done it in a while (Wilson 68). This is a really good example because it shows Henry can see things that most people do not.
