127 Hours is the true story of mountain climber, Aron Ralston's remarkable journey to save himself after a boulder falls and crushes his arm against a wall and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah. For the next 5 days Aron battles the elements and reflects upon his life with family, friends, lovers, and the two hikers he met before his accident, wondering if they would be the last people to see him alive ever again. For those 5 days he embarks on a life changing emotional journey that will forever stay with him long past the end.
It starts out with people everywhere, running, walking, swimming, working, never stopping, never pausing. The screen is divided into three as it plays all of the people’s lives. It than clears into one screen of the main character Aron as he prepares for his journey. The music playing in the background has an upbeat tune giving the audience a sense of anticipation that something big is happening. The camera shots are mainly high angled showing the vast amount of people who are following the mindless routine of day to day life.
He leaves for the physical part of the journey shortly after. The screen again is split into three vectors showing his face and the sides of the road. You can tell he is on a physical journey through the use of a car and a long winding path. The music picks up in intensity and becomes louder giving the affect that the journey is now underway.
