Believe it or not, The United States have not been a superpower for as long as most people may believe. Many people in today’s society think the United States has been the way we are for forever. Before the late 1800s, the United States was a divided nation that was reluctant to indulge in technological development and industrialization. However this soon had changed as the American government became open to change and advancement. After many technical, social/cultural, and organizational changes in the United States, the American government became very powerful. With that said, the purpose of the paper is to explain what technical, social/cultural, and organizational changes took place between 1865-1945 in America and explain why those changes contributed to the leap in power the American government received. The first part of the paper will focus on the changes that took place from 1865-1945. After that, the paper will shift gears into explaining why those changes made America as strong as it got. Comparisons with other countries will help in explaining the reasoning of why the American government got to be so powerful.
