The National interests of the United States during the interwar years (1919-1939) was business, growing business and recovering from the Great Depression. In the beginning the government policy was very conservative. They had the belief that if they focused on helping grow private business that they would bring prosperity to the rest of the population. They did such a good job that they ended up shooting themselves in the foot, by causing the stock market to collapse.
