After leaving Room 101, Winston was never the same. He couldn’t remember anything that happened. He was completely brainwashed. There was no way for him to remember like O’Brien once said before “What happens to you here is forever.” Maybe O’Brien was wrong or maybe he was just convinced to think so.

Months later still in London, Winston still lives in his apartment on Victory Mansions. He decided to go to this new comic book store down the street. As Winston walked into Victory Comics he looked around, he realized that all the comic books were related to Big Brother. Winston picked up one of the books its title was The Most Rebellious of Them All. Winston began to flip through the pages as he viewed the pictures. He stopped on the second page and there was a man, he appeared to be writing in a journal. Winston looked closer Down with Big Brother he whispered to himself as he read the page of the journal in the comic book. Winston began to have a flashback back to when he repeatedly wrote DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER in his journal.

When he walked in his apartment, he immediatley opened his journal and began to write escape plan at the top of the first clean sheet of paper. Winston added more and more to his escape plan everyday, Winston had enough. He wanted his privacy. He was tired of being watched all the time. It was time to get away, Winston thought. It seemed like after being in Room 101 the party wasn’t as strict. Winston never got caught by the thought police. That was unusual for all the thought crime he performed lately. After writing in the journal Winston hid it immediately. If the journal was detected is was reasonably certain that he would be punished with death, or at least by twenty-five years in a forced-labor
