The beginning of 1984, the setting is Winston walking to his apartment, called “Victory mansions.” Victory mansions, does not live up to its name. The way victory mansions are described in the book, doesn’t match up with the name. He described the smell of victory mansions, as rotten cabbage and had old rag mats.
