2001 a Space odyssey would be the film I would change out of all the semesters’ films. The whole film felt like a trip to me it was hard to stay focused most of the time because of the films lack of plot and dialogue. It was a great film with great focus and a deeper meaning if one really got into depth with the film. In order to do so you really had to pay super close attention to the film and couldn’t miss one second of it. This film in all to me seemed really boring not much action and hard to stay awake to due to the slow progression of the film.
The film I would replace this one with is none other than Star Wars because in my mind you can’t have a world’s greatest film class and not include one of the world’s greatest and most in depth films of all time. Where to start let’s see, my first argument for Stars will be it has a complete hero’s journey. Throughout the semester we read “The writers journey and were asked throughout questions about the Hero’s journey that Vogler explains in depth. This film from the opening scene gives you the definition of a hero with Luke Skywalker. That is the fact that it should be removed and Star Wars should replace it. Star Wars is relatable even to someone that has never seen any of the trilogies the prequels or the originals. People can watch these films and make sense of the film without trying too hard. They connect with Luke and even with Anakin before he went dark side. A space odyssey covers the story of mankind’s interest to find out were a black monolith came from and who made it yawn. Star Wars keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what’s next.
