ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING ADMISSION CRITERIA
ADN-RN-NORTH CAMPUS
The generic Associate Degree Nursing (ADN-RN) program at San Jacinto College is a 5 semester program, leading to an
Associate of Applied Science Degree. The generic ADN-RN curriculum includes a combination of class lectures, nursing skills training, and clinical experience in a variety of healthcare settings throughout the Houston metropolitan area.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Texas Board of Nursing (also referred to as β€œBON”) approves the generic Associate Degree Nursing program. Upon successful completion of the generic ADN-RN program, graduates may apply to the Texas Board of Nursing to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to qualify as a Registered Nurse. REQUIREMENTS
The following information assists you in completing the steps to apply for admission to SJC & the Associate Degree Nursing
Program. It is your responsibility to make sure that each step is followed accordingly and that the Enrollment Services and the
Nursing office receives the appropriate paperwork.

San Jacinto College Requirements
Submit a completed San Jacinto College application to the Enrollment Services Office
This can be done online at www.sjcd.edu or www.sanjac.edu. All prospective students must be accepted for admission to San Jacinto College before they are eligible to apply for the Associate Degree Nursing Program.
Note: Admission to San Jacinto College does not guarantee admission to the Associate Degree Nursing
Program.

Submit official transcripts to the Enrollment Services Office:
Please send all documents to the specific campus where you will be applying. o High school graduates and GED recipients, never having attended college, must have an official transcript from their high school or GED testing center mailed directly to the selected campus Office of Enrollment
Services. Applicants enrolled in their senior year of high school should contact the selected campus Office of
Enrollment Services regarding transcript requirements. o College transcripts – Applicants must have official transcripts from all colleges previously attended mailed directly to the selected campus Office of Enrollment Services. Transcripts should be requested as soon as possible; do not wait until the application period beginning dates to request transcripts.
All courses completed outside the San Jacinto College District must be evaluated by Enrollment Services.
Note: To insure accuracy, identify all names used in attending prior institutions that differ from the name submitted on the ADN-RN Program Request Form.

Associate Degree Nursing Program Requirements
All students admitted to a health science program are expected to maintain the highest personal standards of conduct consistent with the professional standards as perceived by the Associate Degree Nursing faculty and professional personnel in the agencies used as extended campus sites. Any information indicating that such standards are not maintained is subject to review by faculty and may result in a recommendation to the College for dismissal from the program. Evidence of physical and emotional fitness upon admission and throughout the program is expected and is subject to review by the Associate Degree Nursing Department and medical opinion or policy of hospitals/agencies which are used as extended campus sites for assigned educational experience.
ADN Application Session Dates
The ADN-RN program accepts applicants twice a year.
For the Fall Term: February 9, 2015 – April 10, 2015
For the Spring Term: TBA
