3D Printers

3D printers are quickly becoming what everyone wants. They can be used to make just about anything. From spacecraft tools for long missions, all the way to human tissues. Terrorists are also learning how to make certain weapons with them. 3D printers are known a industrial robots, which is the reason why lots of companies are starting to invest their money in them.

3D printers are made from lots of different material ranging all the way from plastic, to steel. Depending on how much money you are willing to pay for them. In order to build a 3D printer involves precision work and also lots of time and patience. For the average 3d printer, there are 8 basic steps. The first step is making the main frame. The main frame is what all of the complicated parts are built around. The next three steps is to make the Y, X, and Z axis’. After all of the axis’ are made, you need to build the extruder. An extruder is it is a machine designed to take material and push it through a barrel with a screw. After the extruder is built, you need to build the build platform which is the area of space in which the project is formed on. Lastly you need to put in all of the electronic parts.

3D printers are used by lots of different companies. One of the companies that use the 3d printer is General Electric. They needed a way to produce over 80,000 fuel nozzles for jet engines, they quickly figured out that 3d printers were a great way to do it, especially because they make the nozzles stronger and also lighter than the original assembly line. The company already has over 300 3d printers in use.
