In my opinion, success in College does not require getting straight A’s in all my classes or finishing top of the class; college is a place where I expect to learn what my passion is, study it, and learn how to get connections in order for me to find a good job which suits me and creates a career around it. It is important to find out what my passion is because it would allow me to pursue a career that I enjoy. Making connections and acquiring strong social skills are necessary in college because once I leave college these skills will enable me to find a job more easily. A degree is what establishes my credibility, my ethos, and without this, no one would believe that I am knowledgeable in a certain area. My degree is proof that I graduated from college and understand my knowledge in a specific area. In the article: 4 Reasons Why a College Degree is Necessary These Days, by Sienna Beard states that, “you may be required to obtain a degree even if your experience far surpasses workers coming in with a degree.” This explains how ethos is everything. Without ethos I would not be able to get any high profile or high paying jobs because no one would trust me.Proof is everything; in the article Study: Income Gap Between Young College and High School Grads Widens, by Danielle Kurtzleben, a study showed that, “Among millennials ages 25 to 32, median annual earnings for full-time working college-degree holders are $17,500 greater than for those with high school diplomas only.
