The third point that I want to bring up is the 62 mass shootings in the United States between 1982 and 2012, 49 of the shooters used legally obtained guns. Collectively, 143 guns were possessed by the killers with about 75% obtained legally. Notably people learn about these acts through the media portraying it in the way which the media wants you to know. Many times the questions asked of the innocent bystanders are one sided, directed in a certain direction and it doesn’t give the American people the whole story. The gun control laws are not the issue, it is the way we teach people on the ways they are supposed to be used. All the mass shootings have happened in places where the law made it a gun free zone making people not able to carry a concealed weapon even on duty guard or police officer. I know the law is to take guns out of children’s hands and put them in to professional hands, nevertheless with this law there is no way that a school guard or teacher can protect themselves and their student with this law. It makes the teachers and students sitting ducks with their lives in danger trying to protect themselves and their students. So many teachers use their bodies as a shield to protect the students. The last school shooting that happened in Parkland, Florida was a horrible incident, but if they would allow certain teachers and/or staff members to be trained in these types of situations with a gun to be able to stop these situations from happening. The shooter was free to do anything he wanted because he knew that he didn’t need to worry about someone defending themselves with gun. The shooter was allowed to purchase several guns because the background check system failed. People reported this shooter to authorities however, they decided to do nothing. Now innocent lives are lost, because the system in place is broke. Some believe it’s a good idea to have stricter gun laws, some see it as a breach of their right to bear arms. Many see this as bad idea for teachers to carry guns on campus, then again it might stop someone from committing such crimes because the they might think twice. People that are allowed to carry guns or have them in their homes fill safer because they are being able to protect themselves and their family from harm. I know the laws are there to protect people on the contrary, do people really think that stricter gun laws are going to protect you and your family from danger because someone got the guts to break into to a home or rob a store. If stricter gun control laws are made will there be fewer crimes with assault weapons or any other
