75-Hour Report

Summary: Over the past two weeks at Tyree racing, I learned which tools to use to take a Pontiac engine apart, How to attach add-ons for racing/performance, re-configure a carburetor, put together a brand new engine, and build a engineer a add-on to a garage in which we made from scratch. A lot of measuring and lifting was required when performing my job and safety equipment was mandatory during almost every procedure. My favorite part of the first semester of interning was when we had all the parts to the engine laid out in the garage and over a day we were able to piece the engine together and then take it down to be tested to find the only thing we needed to change was the serpentine belt had a minor tear in it.

Progress:

Over the two weeks I was able to learn about new tools that I have never seen before along with custom tools that my mentor created himself from excess metal. One of the major things I was taught was that the understanding and organization of tools will make or break any project. Some tools have multiple purposes and can save you money by not having to buy another tool for a specific use. My greatest accomplishment this semester was when we got the Pontiac engine tested and everything was perfect except the belt in which we were able to replace the same day.

Difficulties:

The most challenging part of my internship is the daily drive to Lake Elsinore and back, and the amount of physical requirement that the job
