Millions throughout the world enjoy Christian music on a daily basis and connect with the songs on a personal and religious level. Unlike several genres today, Christian music tends to deal with social issues and promotes change in the world. This is what makes Christian and other types of religious music so interesting. Although other music artists make millions of dollars writing songs about money and women or men, Christian music makes the same amount of money and releases a respectable message out to the communities. While religious music encourages openness and worshiping the same god, it has had its issues as any other religion would. The discrimination against gays, lesbians and feminist in the Christian church has long been analyzed by followers of Christianity and those on the outside the religion. When thinking about Christianity one tends to think about togetherness and love. Being accepted for who you are no matter whom you love and what you believe. When the issue of 9/11 arises in Cataldo’s article, he brings famous televangelist Jerry Falwell’s discriminatory comments to the forefront. Stating that 9/11 happened because of people found in the Christian culture being judged on who they love rather than what they do as people. 9/11 did not take place because Christianity has gay and lesbian followers, 9/11 happened because of much more complex reasons. It is then up to people in the spotlight to create awareness to the generalization that gay and lesbians are deviant people.
