We often turn to the news to be informed of what's going on in the world. On March 28th 2016, I was home doing homework and I receive a text from a friend of mine asking was my daughter still in Washington D.C. there has been a shooting so the White House and the Capitol are on lock down. I immediately turned on the T.V. to ABC news. They reported a man set off the metal detector as he walked in the Capitol Visitor Center. When officers approached the man he pulled out a gun and began to open fire. At this point I am very worried and afraid. I did not know if my daughter and her friends were ok. The flight was heading from Borg El-Arab Airport in Alexandria to Cariro and had to be diverted to Larnaca airport in Cyprus. The suspect has on a bombed vest and is in the restroom of the aircraft. This type breaking news scared me because I did not know if this was another 9/11 attack. The news did not give any other information, this was the only reports given for a period of time. Later the news reported that authorities have let some crew members along with passengers off the aircraft. This story was completely necessary for the viewers. Our country should be alerted about incidents such as this one. Although I do not agree with the way ABC news gave half of the story without having exact facts. They should have done more research before they gave the story. By not doing more research it does not show much credibility. It can also give viewers anxiety about what happen on 9/11, no one wants to relive that emotional day. Moreover, watching and reading the news can be so negative that it puts so much fear into peoples lives to the point where they fear coming outside. The media has control over what becomes news and what does not. I think they should do a better job of airing more positive and uplifting
