In 1962 missiles were located ninety miles off the coast in Cuba. This event is known as the Cuban missile crisis. This event scared lots of people and they thought this will be the end of the world. What happened on Cuba in 1962 will always be an event stuck in US history.

The Cold War was between Russia and America. It started in 1945-1948 and ended in 1989. The point of the war was over political dispute after the end of WW2, because there was arguments on how Europe was divided. There was fear throughout this war that the Soviet Union would take over the U.S. Then right after the war they found the missiles on Cuba, which caused more fear for the American citizens.(Cold War)
When the U.S. found the missiles, John F. Kennedy wanted to keep it secret. John F. Kennedy met with army officials to discuss what they should do. After the meeting John F. Kennedy went public about their discovery. When people heard of their discovery, it caused chaos, and people thought it was the end of the world. Many men signed up for the military, because the U.S. was getting ready for war. Instead of using force, John F. Kennedy had a meeting with the UN and Russia. U Thant was there for the UN, U Thant was able to help set the agreements. The US and Russia decided that each of them would remove their missile from their locations. With this it shocked America the soviet would do something like this, and this was all over the dividing of Europe.
