As a young adult we have to start making very important and tough decisions in our life. One of the toughest decisions in life is trying to find the right career. The career that you're going to want to do for the rest of your life and the career that fits you. We don't want to choose the wrong career choice, waste thousands of dollars and be a young college student in debt. I have searched the working conditions, pay, and knowledge for my career choice, I would like to pursue my career as a veterinarian. The skills, education, and work environment needed for a veterinarian can vary greatly. There is a lot of education needed to be a veterinarian but there are only three main degrees you need, a doctoral, professional degree and a state degree. Some of the skills you need to know and be able to do are science, complex problem solving for deciding how much medication should be given to the animals and critical thinking which helps you to make vital decisions. …show more content…
A few of the pros for being a veterinarian is already knowing things about animals. This will help because you will know their behavior and how to keep them calm (Occupational Outlook Handbook). Having experience with animals is great too because you will already have some knowledge and know what to do in tough situations. Working with animals all day long is great if you have a strong love for animals. The last couple benefits to this job is the pay is very good starting out, $42.54 an hour and $88,490 per year. There is also a downfall to becoming a veterinarian, the work can become emotionally stressful. For example, dealing with the animals and their anxious owners. Also you start taking risks like getting bit, kicked, scratched, and getting infected by a disease.
