A Clockwork Orange
A Clockwork Orange is a film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick in 1971. It is an adaptation from the novel “A Clockwork Orange” published by Anthony Burgess in 1962. This film follows Alex and his droogs journey through rape and violent crimes, the capture and attempted rehabilitation of Alex.
A Clockwork Orange is reliant on music and color and is used all throughout the film to increase emotional affect.
The film opens with Alex and his droogs, dressed in all white nearing intoxication. They then engage in an evening full of ultra-violence. During this time, the droogs beat a writer and raped his wife, which ultimately killed her, while singing “Singin’ in the rain”. The next night, Alex and his droogs commit yet another beating of a wealthy cat-lady, and eventually leading him to the police and is sentenced to fourteen years in prison.

The process of this experiment involved drugging Alex, strapping him to a chair with his eyelids held open and forcing him to watch images of violence, which he once enjoyed.
