The two stories that I chose to compare were A Temporary Matter and Sexy. I chose these stories at random, and was pleasantly surprised to find that they in fact had a lot in common with each other. On the surface they appear to be completely different, A Temporary Matter is about a married couple, Shoba and Shukumar, struggling to maintain a healthy relationship after the death of their child, and Sexy being about a woman, Miranda, having affair with a married man. Each story has similarities while also maintaining themes and ideas that give them their own identity.
There are countless similarities between both stories. Secrets are a common theme among both stories. In A Temporary Matter both Shoba and Shukumar keep secrets from each other.
