In the book Monster written by Walter Dean Myers, Steve should be proven innocent because he cares for his family and that he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Even though Steve is on trial he thinks about his family and what would happen to them. Steve wants to be a good role model for his little brother because he looks up to him. When Steve is on trial he constantly thinks about flashbacks in his head about his family. The author was trying to prove that Steve was trying to be a good role model for Jerry when Steve said “I wish Jerry were here. Not in jail, but somehow with me. What would I say to him? Think about all the tomorrows of your life. Yes, that's what I would say. Think about all the tomorrows of your life”(page.
