The poems “A Laughing Heart” and “The Journey” are very similar as they both share a unique perspective of self discovery and a shared theme of taking action before it's too late. In “A Laughing Heart” it urges you to take action of self discovery and seizing opportunities before your life passes by while in “The Journey” it discusses the journey of a character who has finally taken action of self discovery to save him or herself. The urgent tone of “A Laughing Heart” helps with the need to take action giving the reader the sense that they have to do this now or they may no longer have the option to. While in contrast “The Journey” the author took a less direct persuasive route and told a story in which the tone was more accepting of the journey that had just been taken. …show more content…
While in the poem “The Journey” stanzas such as “ ”Mend my life!” each voice cried” and “Determined to save the only life you could save” also displayed the need to take action and seize the opportunity before it was too late but rather threw a beautiful story of a journey of someone who left a situation that made many demands of them in order for them to finally truly live. The stanza “ ”mend my life!” each voice cried” shows the demands made of the traveler and “Determined to save the only life you could save” shows that they finally seized the moment and saved him or herself before time ran
