I read A Night Divided novel by Jennifer A. Nielsen The book is told from the point of view of the main character Gerta. Gerta is a 12 year old girl in West Berlin. Her family was separated overnight by the Berlin Wall. In the book A Night Divided a family got separated overnight and one day Gerta saw her dad and brother doing a childhood dance on the other side of the wall and Gerta took it as that her dad wanted her and her brother to dig a tunnel so they ended up digging a tunnel and connecting with their family and also helping other families go to the Eastern side. This is a small summary of my book A Night Divided.

A way I that I think this might be a reason is because even looking over to the other side of the wall or talking about the wall you could be shot. A good reason is that they stole a couple things and stealing is a crime. And another reason that supports this is that escaping almost anyway in after they blocked off the building was impossible people tried to drive through the fence and look they were no longer apart of the book any more,people tried to swim through the canals to bad theres barbed wire in the water but digging a tunnel under the wall is genius but so dangerous. That’s why I think what they did was very dangerous and that contributes to the theme of A Night Divided.
