The two articles “A Quilt of a Country” and “The Immigrant Contribution” have many similarities and differences. The authors Anna Quindlen and John F. Kennedy each have very unique writing techniques and ideas when talking about the topic of american life and immigration lives and how they are alike. Although these articles are disparate, they explain how our country is so diverse like a quilt thrown into a melting pot altering the way Americans live. “The U.S. is a unique country that stands for something special in the world” (Quindlen, 15).

The United States and its citizens have to deal with all these people “stealing” their jobs, housing, and their country in general. There are more than 11 million immigrants in America but we all still welcome them and accept them as who they are. They explain how all these people from across the world change our lives and we still live together as one like a quilt. Some may disagree but by law they are allowed in the U.S. as long as it's legal. Both the articles explain how immigrants have impacted and changed America by us letting them in. Our country is a large blend of different races, cultures, ethnicities, and nationalities. Although we are all different, our country still goes on. “So too, in the very way we speak, immigration has altered American life” (Hanlin, 26).

Now on the other hand these articles also contradict each other in many ways. “The Immigrant Contribution” explains how the immigrants have adapted America and how us Americans live our everyday lives. It really goes on to tell you how many immigrants have come
