Eric G. Wilson, author of Against Happiness and professor at Wake Forest University, wrote about a topic that most people think as contradictory. Sadness. He has come to terms with his demons and he wishes that people would too. Wilson states in his book that too much happiness could be a loss of creativity. He believes that we need to live in a world where there is more melancholy involved. Why? If we feel melancholy, we are able to be more creative and look at situations in a different light. It enables you to get out of the status quo and look at negative experiences as positive ones. Wilson says that 15% of people in the U.S are unhappy.
