Speech Analysis Pamela Meyer’s TED talk speech, “How to Spot a Liar”, certainly caught my undivided attention. Who wouldn’t want to know when someone is untrue to them, and why do we do it? Her introduction was very captivating, because she utilized logical statements to make her audience think twice about themselves, for the sole purpose of accepting that everyone lies for numerous reasons. By calling everyone in the audience a liar, Pamela attracted their attention immediately. Not to mention that she used humorous jokes to make them laugh and comfortable before diving into the speech. Naturally, being accused of dishonesty by a stranger would make a person want to argue that he/she isn’t a liar. But we all know that is false. Everyone lies about something under different circumstances for several reasons. Pamela’s purpose was very clear: to inform her audience of why people lie, how to spot a liar, reasons why you would want to go from lie-spotting to truth-seeking, and how to finally build trust. For purpose’s clarity, originality, and creativity, Pamela deserves a perfect score. …show more content…
I think that her speech was very well organized. The speech opening was a strong and catchy introduction, next she stated her purpose, then she continues with very interesting information. She referenced the book written by herself, sourced video clips that aren’t too long to bore her audience or cover her whole performance, added only a few photos so that her presentation didn’t look overcrowded, and included many other research, to prove her credibility to her audience. That said, she clearly had ample
