The underlying premise that “Friendship is a single soul living in two bodies” (by Aristotle) was not evidenced by Knowles’s novel A Separate Peace. My interpretation of Aristotle’s quote is that true friendship is a very deep bond that resides at a spiritual level between two friends. In other words, the bond of true friendship is so strong that the two friends are connected in a manner that defies physical boundaries and earthly limitations like the human body – even a broken one. True friends have a shared stream of conscientiousness that both can tap into.
