What things come to mind when you think of compare and contrast. I don’t know about you but the two stories “A Sound of Thunder” and “Being Prey” come to my mind. These stories are similar and different in several ways. They have both similarities and differences in the plot, theme, and also their conflicts. The stories have different meanings and are different genres, but they teach the same lesson in the end. The stories “A Sound of Thunder” and “Being Prey” create a theme. The theme is, your mistakes are the thing that hurt you the most. In the story “A Sound of Thunder” and “Being Prey” the main characters make silly mistakes that become life threatening. Eckel, the main character of “A Sound of Thunder” accidentally steps on a butterfly while in the past, Travis, the safari guide/ leader, kills Eckel for his mistake. Val the main character of “Being Prey” doesn’t listen to the warnings the ranger gave her so she got attacked by the crocodile twice. The fact that both main characters make their mistakes by not listening to the warnings/ what they are told and get hurt by their mistakes, supports the theme that I have mad for both stories. Each story had conflicts, but both of them are cause by the main character not listening. In “A Sound of Thunder” the conflict is between Eckel, the main character, and Travis, the safari guide. Through all of the similarities and differences that were explained In the last three paragraphs, you should have an idea of how “A Sound of Thunder” and “Being Prey” are alike and different. Both characters make their mistakes the same way in each story, by not listening to the warnings or what they are told. The main difference between the two stories is that Travis doesn’t realize that it was a mistake that Eckel stepped on the butterfly. Meanwhile Val learned from her
