A Trip To Ellis Island

I decided while I was on a very short trip in New York I would go visit Ellis Island. I had never visited Ellis Island; this was actually my first time in New York. Throughout all of my schooling I have learned about Ellis Island but seeing it in real life was a whole new experience. When I arrived at Ellis Island I got to see what the immigrants saw as soon as they got to America which was breath taking. After getting off of the ferry at Ellis Island I got to go inside of the Ellis Island National Museum of immigration. Although I wish I could have done a guided tour I only had time to do a self guided tour. However the museum does offer audio tours that last about 45 minutes for those who cannot stay on the island all day. Coming to Ellis Island meant a new start, a new hope, freedom, and opportunity. For more than 60 years millions of immigrants used Ellis Island as a gateway to the United States of America. Ellis Island is located in the upper bay just off of the New Jersey coast and very close to the Statue of Liberty. When I looked up my last name people popped up but they didn't seem to match anything I knew about my family. It was a little disappointing not finding anything but was cool that they had a place you could look up if your family had traveled there. I also did look up the information you gave me but did not find anything either. This site helped connected everything I had previously learned on the topic. It also taught me new things and showed me things I would have never seen nor experienced if I had not visited this site. This site shows where we started and how we became to be who we are today. I was thoroughly impressed with this site and would recommend everyone to go at least once especially if you are already in New York visiting it's well worth the
