ACE Program - Revision Before I started in the American River College ACE Program, college success was not always apart of my college career. I have been and will always consider myself a part of the ace program community in which I have participated in for the past two years. Unfortunately, I am no long among the rest of my cohort classmates that have been apart of this amazing community. Looking back at I see that the time was well spent, the experiences were life changing, and there was success that not only myself has gained from this group but the individuals apart of the community have gained as well. Here I was coming back to school unsure of myself and in a environment where I previously never found success. My counselor recommend I take a college success course that’s part of this program called ACE. With a new motivation as I learned along the years being out of school the importance of gaining a education I would soon sign up for this ACE program and enroll into the college success course. Before starting my classes I was required to go to an orientation in which I would get more information about the program and even meet for the first time my fellow cohort classmates. I remember the day as if it were yesterday, entering into this classroom for the orientation at night just getting off of work still in my work clothes. Thinking at the time how I would be the only one there coming straight from work and having sense of being among others who have much more college success and experience than I do. The entire time I didn’t ask any questions during the orientation and I kept to myself from interacting with anyone at the time. I noticed that I wasn’t the only one in work clothes in the room which was the only comfort I felt at the time I got that night. …show more content…
From the orientation I learned that the program would be a two year program in which we would take accelerated classes on weekends and nights that is suitable for working students such as myself. These classes would all be apart of the required classes needed to either transfer and or gain an Associates Degree The first day would come for school and it would be the beginning of the program for myself and others that were at the orientation. The first class would start and it was the college success course. In this class I gained a unforgettable experience that would help me succeed for the rest of my college career up to this point and time. In this class I would get to know each and every single one of my classes mates in the cohort on a more personal level than I ever had for any other school group I have been apart of outside of sports teams I’ve been on. During this class our teacher would motivated us and shows us keys and steps to success throughout college but we would also learn from each other and how to help each other out. Some of the activities would do is share with each other our personal goals and where we see ourselves at in our lives and
