AP Human Geography Since, Christianity and Judaism began as one they have similarities between them. But, after the separation the way the religions operate, their core beliefs and what is considered holy are different.

Christians award Jesus with being the founder of Christianity. Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God and was sent as human salvation. They believe Jesus was conceived by the Virgin Mary. According to Christian tradition, Mary was visited at night by one of God’s angels and was told that she would become pregnant with the Son of God. Mary was instructed by the angel to name him Jesus. According to the New Testament, husbands and wives must love each other as Jesus loved the church. Some Christian symbols that are involved in marriage are, the ring, which circular shape symbolizes that love’s infinite last, the lighted candle which represents the flame of Jesus Christ, the white dress the bride wears represents pureness and virginity. Jewish traditional ceremonial weddings processions start with the escorting of the bride and groom by their parents, the Torah is escorted around the synagogue seven times, seven being a number of importance throughout it. Wine is blessed twice and then, they proceed with the second part of the ceremony which includes the seven blessings. The seven blessings are one of the most important parts of the ceremony. The final element of the ceremony is the breaking of the glass. For most Jews it represents the destruction of the jewish temples, showing that along with blessings and happiness there is sadness and
