Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglas were both very good heroes because they were sacrificial. In the book, it says that Frederick Douglas was sacrificing for liberty. “I felt assured that if I failed in this attempt, my case would be a hopeless one…” he is saying that if he fails to save his country from slavery, our country wouldn’t last long. Also like Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln was called a hero because he fought for his country, even for the cost of his life. “Walk the deck my captain lies, fallen cold and dead.” He saved our country, but the cost of freedom was his life.
