The purpose of this essay is to analyze the works of Abraham Lincoln. Often when presidents give speeches the general population neglects to remember them, and they disregard them. Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United States, did not appear to have this issue. Some of his speeches are still pursued until this day. Not only are Lincolns speeches still being read and analyzed, but they are also being taught in learning environments. Much can be said of his speeches. Two of his speeches the Gettysburg Address and the Second Inaugural Address are among his greatest speeches. Lincoln was a magician with his words. He further increases his audiences respect by using the words "We" and "Us" instead of using "I". Lincoln can construct a bond between him and his audience. He fundamentally says I am your president, but we are equal we are all needed for the purpose of this country. Not only does Lincoln present his authority in the two speeches, but he also created logic and supports with evidence. Lincoln begins his Gettysburg Address with actualities about what the nation is built. Lincoln is referring to the Declaration of Independence and the rights it ensured to all Americans. Presenting historical events is his method of setting up a speech to unite the forces together before he proceeds to the bigger picture. In Lincon's Second Inaugural Address, he rarely gave facts, to get his logic across instead he presented common sense. There was a purpose for both of these addresses. The Gettysburg Address's purpose was to honor the daring men who sacrificed and fought in the war with the hope of uniting the Union.
