In the story, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie Junior is your typical dorky kid born with many medical problems, he gets picked on by everyone besides his best friend Rowdy. Junior and Rowdy both lives on the Rez, a Spokane indian reservation. Have you ever felt like you never really fit in with everyone else? Well Junior felt like that. One day in school, Junior was assigned a book in geometry class and when he looked inside the book, the book said Agnes Adams. Agnes Adams is his mother and Adams was her maiden name, meaning he was about to study out of a book at least thirty years older than himself. Junior smashed the book in his teacher’s face, and of course he got suspended. Both his parents were disappointed in him as well as his grandmother because, they never imagined that he would ever do anything like that.
A week later into Junior’s suspension the same teacher who’d he gotten suspended for showed up on his porch wanting to talk to him.
“Do you know why you hit me with that book?” Mr.P asked Junior
“I hit you because I’m stupid” said Junior
In Junior’s defense he said he wasn’t really aiming at anything and in that unexpected aim he hit Mr.P, but both Junior and Mr.P knew that Junior threw that book at him on purpose .
