King Henry VIII was a powerful and influential ruler and monarch of the Renaissance era. He was known as the king who was famously married six times yet he played a critical role in English reformation. In 1509 when Henry was 18 years of age, he was ascended the throne. According to the Venetian ambassador, the young king Henry was portrayed as ‘above the usual height, with an extremely fine calf on his leg; his complexion very fair and bright, with auburn hair combed straight and short in the French fashion, and a round face, so very beautiful that it could become a pretty woman, his throat being rather long and thick.’ He was proven to be very intelligent and advanced in sports. This is clearly revealed in one of his many battles, The Battle of the Spurs. Through this war, his determination and careful planning led him to an extremely simple yet successful victory. Another one of his various achievements was the Defence of the Sacraments, where he made it clear to Pope Leo X that Martin Luther was impious and impertinent towards the Church.
