Introduction
Acetone (CH3COCH3) is a colourless liquid which has numerous names such as 2-propane, beta-ketopropane and Dimethyl Ketone(Pubchem, 2018). Acetone is a polar molecule the reason behind this, is because the oxygen in the compound has two unshared electrons which makes one end of the molecule highly negative, this compound also has a double bond between the carbon and the oxygen. Acetone, in addition has single bonds between the side carbons and 6 hydrogens making this end of the of the molecule positive (Macomber, 2011). Acetone is a common solvent that had been discovered by alchemists in the middle ages. The chemists who determined the chemical structure were known as Jean Baptiste Dumas and Justus von Leibig (My Safety signs, 2018).
