Throughout Act 1, Scene 1 in Taymor’s production, the scene contained very similar, yet singular elements to what we spoke about with the ‘Stone Soup’ actors. For example, Theseus and Hippolyta both wore all black and stood very strong with their shoulders back. Their strong stature mirrored the same idea of the actors wearing a crown which we practiced in class. Hippolyta also was the most successful in delivering this idea because of the way she held her head. For example, she stretched her neck and held tension in her face to distinguish her importance and disgust with Theseus. The black clothing that Hippolyta and Theseus wore in this scene also illustrated their significance as monarchy of the land because it caused them to stand out from
