The thought of euthanasia has been a long debated topic dating back centuries ago to the Greeks and the Romans. Philosophers have named it their goal to ask the life questions that have been left unanswered. Among these philosophers are Dan Brock, Author of “ Voluntary Active Euthanasia”, James Rachels, Author of “ Active and Passive Euthanasia”, and William Nesbitt, author of “Is Killing No Worse Than Letting Die”, doctrines which demonstrate their own beliefs on euthanasia in the medical domain. Euthanasia is the act of ending one’s life prior to their natural occurring death. As time and technology have progressed in the world, the notion of euthanasia, mercy killing, has been more and more compelling and controversial. To view passive euthanasia as a better option than active euthanasia is the same as saying that making the patient suffer until their own denouement is the right choice. This brings up Brock’s argument of well-being, to make a patient suffer is going against a patient's well-being. To say active euthanasia is morally acceptable is agreeing that cases of extreme suffering it is permissible to end one's life in a peaceful manner in the medical professional's hands. As a society, humans do not have the authority to determine what is right or wrong for a person. If a person wishes to pursue active euthanasia, passive euthanasia, or even no euthanasia that is their decision. In a nutshell, it is the patient's decision to decide for themselves and nobody else has the right to impede on their desires. Killing is no worse than letting
