Student Description
Flamingo is a first grade male who is 6 years and 11 months old that has been diagnosed with a speech and language disability. In December, he was moved from a self-contained room to our MAPS (management, academics, physical, and social) room because he was struggling academically and socially.
Adaptive Behavior Composite
Flamingo has a low adaptive level and an age equivalent of 3 years and 8 months, which is almost half his age. These low results support the struggles that Flamingo has with real-life skills such as the ability to work, social skills, and basic responsibility.
Domains
Flamingo has a moderately low adaptive communication level with an age equivalent of 3 years and 6 months (standard score 73). This equivalent age is half of his real age, making his weakness of communicating concise and clear more understandable. Even though Flamingo has difficulty with listening and following directions, he does a better job at trying to express himself. As for daily living scores, Flamingo has a moderately low adaptive level with an age equivalent of 5 years (standard score 79). As for age equivalents, Flamingo is 2 years and 2 months in regards to interpersonal relationships, 3 years and 5 months for play and leisure time, and 3 years and 8 months for coping skills. All of these results are at least half his actual age, which makes Flamingo not as developed socially as some of his peers. In class, Flamingo is constantly looking at others and copying what they are doing because he cannot take control of any free time. Even though Flamingo will join in certain activities, he is uncertain and very serious most of the
