Introduction

In today’s society it’s easy for young adults to get bored of the everyday grind, not only does this create frustration in the teens life but it can also leads to negative effects such as depression, stress, looking for excitement in dangerous ways including drugs and alcohol, vandalism, and promiscuity. Young Adult
Centers of America (YACA) is adding youth centers to cities so young adults have a safe and fun way to socialize.

Background According to the American Psychological Association, “Stress is also taking a toll on kids. Almost a third of children reported that in the last month they had experienced a physical health symptom often associated with stress, such as headaches, stomach aches or trouble falling or staying asleep.” Every 1 out of 8 teens may have depression (Lyness). “In 2011, an estimated 22.5 million
Americans aged 12 or older—or 8.7 percent of the population—had used an illicit drug or abused a psychotherapeutic medication (such as a pain reliever, stimulant, or tranquilizer) in the past month” (Drugfacts). There is currently no place in Green
Bay that is completely designated for young adults to come and hang out and socialize with people of the same age group. The center would add a place for young adults to go to socialize and alleviate some of the negative effects above.

Significance

Some of the benefits of bringing a Young Adult Center to the community would be: ○ Less destructive behavior from teens in the area.
○ It would give teens the opportunity to socialize with others of their age group in a comfortable and safe setting.
○ It would deter teens and young adults from risky behavior such as drugs, alcohol, and vandalism.
○ It would encourage teens to shop locally, since it would be a privately owned place and the money would stay within the community benefiting more than just young adults.

Recommendation
Placement of young adult center in areas with the most frequent teenage activity to maximize effects.

Resources
Primary research will include surveys from, NWTC students from ages 18 to
19, and local high school students 15 to 17. Secondary research will include information from credible resources from the NWTC library and reliable internet sources.

Requirements
Prepare surveys and distribute them, continue secondary research on an everyday basis for the most accurate information.

Limitations
Possible limitations that could hinder the construction of the Young Adult
