It is said by National Public Radio that criminologists believe over 200,000 murder cases have remained unsolved since 1960 (Kaste). Clearing arrests have become harder because of the high standards that have increased over the years. Serial, a twelve-episode podcast hosted by Sarah Koenig, focuses on the murder case of Hae Min Lee in February 1999 that may as well be unsolved. Adnan Syed, the recent ex of Hae, was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison, even though many believe he is innocent. However, Adnan was tried for murder and should stay in jail for it. A huge flaw in Adnan that points out he was the killer is his personality and ability to recall the past overall. However, an anonymous man, one of the two men who said they had seen Adnan take money from the church, said Adnan didn’t seem to be caught stealing from the mosque when he was younger “because he was looked upon like the golden child, and his dad was very religious, and he would go out on missionary work and so on.” When asked about how much he stole back then, this anonymous man told Koenig over “tens of thousands, maybe a hundred thousand dollars” over the entire time he’d done it. Adnan even agreed that he had committed that little crime in the past (Koenig, “The Case Against Adnan Syed”). Along with this bit of information, like said above, since it is believed that Adnan is a “golden child”, it can also be believed that he could have done this crime. Koenig asked people from Adnan’s childhood in the same episode if he could commit murder, and she said after interviewing them, “I’ve heard this from about four people, people who knew Adnan growing up. That Adnan was capable of committing this crime. People told me he used his charm and his smarts to deflect suspicion or weasel out of things when he got caught” (Koenig, “The Case Against Adnan Syed”). It sounds like, from
