Deceptive. Enticing. Malicious. These are all characteristics of a ruler who abuses his power on others. It’s worse when a ruler obtains these characteristics rather than an ordinary person because, it will affect more people's lives. Power has a negative effect on others because, it can be used to prove that you have more importance and that they have control.

With power, an authoritative ruler may cause people to feel like their ruler may care more on his authority rather than his people who try to support him. King Creon could have been lenient on his family member, Antigone but instead he was harsh. In the play, Antigone by Sophocles, Creon ordered Antigone to be “Out there in the wilderness, and locked her in a vault of stone.” (844) This shows that though Creon is related to Antigone he still uses his power to prove to his people that he still has authority over all, no matter your relations with him. This also shows that he cares more about his power

When Hitler used his army to control over Poland and all of the Jews. In 1933 during World War II, Adolf Hitler invaded Poland with his army, controlling, abusing and inevitably killing This shows that Hitler used his power of the Nazi control to get what he wants and take over Poland. This also shows that Hitler was so confident in controlling his army that he knew no one would try to revolt or rebel against his orders. Hitler is an example of how when power is placed in the wrong hands, people can be affected mentally, or in this case, physically. In conclusion, power can be used, negatively when in the hand of deceitful leaders because, it can cause people harm

There is much responsibility that comes with having great power, Sadly their are many authority figures who are wrongfully given power over others, People shouldn’t be given complete authority because they can abuse it to their own
