Option #1 – Naval Blockade of Japan
Advantages –
1. The Allies could control who got in and out of Japan.
2. A blockade would make the Japanese come to the bargaining table because of the lack of supplies like food or medicines for its citizens.
Disadvantages –
1. The Japanese could possibly reach the ships and use suicide planes to sink our ships.
2. The American people, who are tired of war, may not approve of starving Japanese citizens.
Option #2 –Allow conditional surrender.
Advantages –
1. By allowing the Japanese to surrender under certain conditions, the war could end.
2. The Allies could control what the Japanese would be able to gain out of the surrender i.e. letting the Emperor stay in power.
Disadvantages –
1. The Japanese could
