In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue and discovered the Americas. Columbus set out to find a quicker route to India but in the process instead found the Americas. But why did people believe the world was flat? During this time period maps, atlases, charts and other navigational technology were roughly handmade based on where people had traveled to. The tools and technology of this time period were not always completely accurate. Unlike today's technology, which is far more advanced, we are able to travel farther, fastest and safer to all parts of the world. If Columbus had just a few of the advancements we have today, he might have found India.

From smartphones to laptops, traveling and finding our destination is as easy as the push of a button. Now we have several apps that tell you the easiest way to get where you want to go and GPS on our phones. We have planes, jets, ships, trains, and several other means of transportation that take minutes to get us from one place to another. On ships are safer to travel on and get us to our destination faster. In Columbus' time, someone would have to manually calculate where the ship was and the path to take to get somewhere. Today’s ships on the other hand, have built in locators and global positioning systems. Imagine, if Christopher Columbus had the technology we have today, his voyage would have been far more successful and accomplished faster.

Granting that Christopher Columbus had a modern technology, he might have landed in India, as planned. Materials such as modern maps, GPS, ships, and others, Christopher Columbus' journey would have been successful. Supposing that Columbus had so much as a world map from today, he would have seen that the Americas were in his path. With a simple world map from today Columbus could have found an alternate route to India. With a map or any other piece of modern technology used in Columbus's time, it would have been possible for any explorer to find the Americas, or anywhere in the
