If communism is implemented correctly it would be an effective and fair way of governing a country. Before constructing an argument of why communism should be implemented in Australia we must first define both communism and democracy. The Oxford dictionary defines communism as “A theory or system of social organization in which all property is owned by the community and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs”. They define democracy as “A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives”. If communism was to be implemented correctly there are many benefits to the Australian people.
The whole idea of communism is that everybody is equal, this means that people contribute to society and are given back based on how much they contribute and how much they need. There is an argument that there is no motivation to work in a communist state but this is not true. People only receive if they are helping to keep the country running, if they are not

This means that the government can solely focus on looking after the people and making their day-to-day life better (Marx,1848). Australia is currently becoming more corrupt as a nation and has fallen six places on the International Corruption Index since 2012 (ABC, 2016). Politicians turning corrupt due to personal business interests or offers of money from outside parties that could benefit from certain decisions is a problem in Australia (Daily Telegraph, 2014). An example that has recently been uncovered is political donators breaking up donations so that they do not have to report their donations (ABC, 2016). The extent of this is so great it has almost reached $2 million that has been unreported.
