In our society, we look up to those who were put in difficult circumstances and propelled to achieve something great. As today in society many people are fond to see people who can take great achievements out of adversity. Roman poet Horace he implies that it takes numerous difficulties throughout an individual's life for them to accomplish great things. As adversity inspires a person to do significant things, people are able to overachieve and prove others wrong when hardship is present.

Before becoming the first black female host of a talk show, Oprah had encountered many difficult situations. After having rough living condition, she was sexually abused around the age 9. When she was 14 she got pregnant. But her son shortly died after birth. Orpah's misfortune didn't stop there; she was then hired at a local television station for news, which became the number one local station, but then fired for not being the right fit for television. But she did develop a skill that helped her along the way; she had a people person personality meaning she was particularly good around people, which helped her become the most influential women in the Unites States.
